Wow! What a great book...I read it in a day!! I knew of the story of HeLa cells & Henrietta Lacks but not the whole story. This book gives the human side of a family coming to grips with science they didn't understand and research they couldn't comprehend and the life of a mother they never knew. This book grapples with the legal, ethical and moral rights of patients and medical research . This book also honestly confronts the history of medical experimentation without informed consent. The world owes a debt to this African American woman whose name should be a househould name.

I read biographies so that I can learn lessons from the successes and failures of others. If you grew up in the 80's & 90's you know Mike Tyson dominated the sport of boxing...and his out of the ring actions were always news worthy in a crazy cringeworthy way.He was super rich before Mayweather, JayZ, Puffy and Cash Money !!! In his book you understand his story from his point of view . It's raw, honest, funny, sad, & thoughtful . Lessons from his story: 1. If you set goals and put in the work you can achieve great things. 2. You can overcome dire circumstances to be successful with help. 3. You must surround yourself with good people or be prepared for a hard fall.4. You must develop yourself completely to be well rounded( physically, mentally, spiritually , socially)5. Money & fame is not success and can be destructive.6. You can always reinvent yourself & find redemption.
